SUG Election Debate In FUTO- By Aniebo Anthony
THE DEBATE!!!

It was a battle of words and oratorical prowess
earlier today August 7th 2015 at Hall of Mercy
(HOM) venue for the electoral debate as all SUG
aspirants took turn to convince Nigerian
Student to vote in their favour in the upcoming
SUG general election. The electoral debate kick
started at about 3:30pm and present at the
debate were: the dean of students affairs(Prof.
M.C Offoh), the ISEC chairman, ISEC
representatives, Iwuagwu Kelechi (Mr.
Pragmatic) and a host of Nigerian students.
The debate started with the vice presidential
aspirants and each of them quickly said their
blueprint if elected into power. They were
followed suit by the presidential aspirants.
Obani Izuchukwu disclosed that his mantra is
Presiding with precision and he has all it takes
to tackle the security challenges we are facing
in FUTO.
Ezenwa Obinna was of the view that he wants
to create an effective communication website to
bridge the communication gap between the
management and the union. Conversely,
Chiegozie Ugbajah(CTU) buttressed the fact
that he has a platform called "FUTO FM" and
for him, he is very optimistic that it will better
the lives of an average Nigerian Student".
Onwukwe Prince(OPC) said that he has an
8point agenda which includes Effective
transportation, Conducive lecture halls, WiFi
networks around campus etc and he believes he
can do it if he eventually becomes the
President of the union.
All other aspirants present took their turns to
address Nigerian students and they all
disclosed what they have in mind to do if voted
in for their various offices.
High point of the debate session was during
the turn for the Director of social aspirants.
Akwuago Linda being the only lady vying for
the post trilled the audience with her dance
steps as she used almost half of her time to
entertain her audience. She also portrayed the
fact that she will put up programs that will
enable young girls have interest in FUTO.
Another aspirants, Uzoigwe Promise(Dj promzy)
promised to build a FUTO swimming pool that
will revive the swimming culture in Nigerian
students while Tuchi also promised to host the
first futo carnival.
A public relations officer (P.R.O) aspirants by
name: Mascot Ernest promised to
introduce"FUTO-HOTLINE", a 3-digit number
that will enhance information dissemination on
campus.
Finally before the debate came to an end, the
ISEC chairman advised the aspirants to
concentrate on issue based campaigns while
promising that the election will be free and fair.
Similarly, Prof. M.C Offoh(Dean of Student)
debunked the rumour that the ISEC members
purposely made away with the screening exam
scripts in order to manipulate the figures. He
assured everyone that he is in possession of the
exam scripts and he is working assiduously to
make sure that this year's election go free and
fair. The debate finally came to end and
solidarity songs were chanted in favour of the
candidates.
